The power of…
The power of small things.
Small movements.
Small words.
They can create massive change. And despite their diminutive nature, they can also be extremely challenging.
I was working with a postpartum client recently, who is working on reestablishing her core connection and strength, and tiny movements of simply lifting a hand or a knee off the floor by the smallest amount possible made her shake with effort.
And I’m reminded of how that relates to the difficulty of using a specific, tiny word in birth. Specifically within the medical setting.
“No.”
There is power in small things. And even more when you stay with it. When you don’t give up. You don’t back down.
Even when it feels hard.
Because small things become big things. Babies, movements, words. Their impact on our lives can stretch into forever.
Remember your power, even in the smallest shifts you make, or the word you speak. Even when you need to change positions in labor, sometimes all you need is something small. Sometimes all your baby needs is you to say, “no.” Or, “yes!” Sometimes all your body needs is a for you to move a leg, or a knee. Sometimes all you need to do is trust that small voice in the back of your mind.
